MANCHESTER Captains held their President's
Day on at Reddish Vale Golf Club, the Home Club of their
President, Barry Swainson.
Eighty Members played on the immaculate Reddish Vale
course, in what has been by far the best weather which
they have enjoyed throughout the year.
The
winners again came from the north of the region, with
the ever popular Ged and Joe Gaffey coming home with
a clear 3-point win on 47points.
Ged
from Bolton Old Links and Joe from Swinton Park were
followed by another pair from Bolton Old Links, The
Society Treasurer, Ian Brooks partnered by Kevin Shea
on a very commendable 44 points.
In
third place representing the south were Roger Attwater
and Bill Higginbotham from Bramhall, with 41 points,
on a card play off from Daniel Stone and Edwin Thomas
from The Manchester Golf Club.
The Society Captain Robbie Phillips suitably assisted
by Jeff Stockton, the Captain of Reddish Vale, did well
on 40 points, a score shared by Ken Webb with Eddie
Pimlott from Bramall Park and Jeff Hibbert partnered
by Tom Lythgoe from Turton.
The Members enjoyed both an excellent day and the dinner
which followed in the Reddish Vale Clubhouse.
The
pictures show a few of the stragglers finishing off
after the slight rise on the 18th, whilst Robbie Phillips
took a "glass" with the RV Captain and their
President Arthur Cooper.
