A field of 72, representing 26 Clubs, enjoyed
the Captains Day of the Society Manchester & District
Golf Captains at Whitefield Golf Club.
Our thanks go to Whitefield G C for hosting this event for
us; the course was set up in magnificent condition and was
a stiff test of golf.
Making the most of the glorious sunny weather conditions
were winning pair Phillip Crosthwaite and Mark Rowden both
from Mellor & Townscliffe G C who scored a fine haul
of 42 points to take the top prizes in the Captain’s
Day competition.
Runners up on 40 points were Dave Sanders & Colin McManus
from Reddish Vale G C. Third place on 39 points went to
Harry Reid & Alan Bullock from Styal G C.
6 2’s were recorded – Mike Hinde -Tony Rogers
– Frank Brooks – Martin Caller- Harry Reid (an
Eagle 2 on the par 4 8th hole) – Andrew Bryden –
all receiving 6 Society logo balls.
The day was rounded off with a superb traditional Jewish
meal served up by the Whitefield catering manager Brian
Perkins. Our thanks go to him and his staff for a truly
wonderful meal.
The Captain Irvine Caplan thanked all the members for attending
and making it a day to remember for him. He presented a
commemorative plaque to the Captain of Whitefield, Joe Lee
who responded by saying how delighted they were to have
hosted the event for Irvine, a long serving Member of the
Whitefield Club.
