The Annual Match against the Society of Derbyshire
Golf Captains for The Don McFarlane Trophy was held at the
Buxton High Peak Golf Club.
On a gloriously hot & sunny day the Match was played
on the stunning Buxton High Peak course which was presented
in superb condition and was a very stiff test of golf but
never the less enjoyed by all.
After
an excellent dinner of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding
a Past Captain of Buxton High Peak G. C. Mike Whalley welcomed
all the members of both Societies to Buxton High Peak G.C.
John Carr Captain of the Society of Derbyshire Captains
thanked the Buxton High Peak G C for their hospitality in
hosting this annual event and presented cheques to Mike
Whalley for the Greens Staff and Catering staff and Captains
Charity in appreciation.
A cheque was also presented to the treasurer of The British
Heart Foundation who responded gratefully and enlightened
us as to the work the Foundation does.
Irvine Caplan SMDGC Captain thanked Derbyshire Captains
for their generous hospitality and also Buxton High Peak
Golf Club for making us so welcome and presented a plaque
to their past Captain Mike Whalley to commemorate our visit.
We all enjoyed a wonderful day with our friends from the
Society of Derbyshire Golf Captains, the result was a genuine
“Honourable Draw”. We look forward to meeting
with them again next year in Manchester, when hopefully,
we will have tracked down the Don McFarlane Trophy!
