A field of 100 enjoyed the traditional end
of season Invitation Day at Davyhulme Park Golf Club.
Our thanks go to Davyhulme G C for hosting this event for
us; the course was set up in magnificent condition.
Making
the most of the very pleasant conditions were winning pair
Tony Bowden & Harry Gray both from Bramall Park G C
who scored a fantastic 46 points to take the top prizes
in the Invitation Day competition, 3 points clear of the
Runners up on 43 points, after a 4 way card play off, Ken
Webb & John Paget again both from Bramall Park G C.
In 3rd place again on 43 points were Norman Chatburn &
George Bedford, both yet again from Bramall Park G C. A
clean sweep for Bramall Park – congratulations.
Ian Wilbur and John Williams were just out of the prizes
as were John Plunkett and B Lombard all on 43 points
A total of 9 twos were recorded receiving 4 balls each
In the absence of the Society Captain Irvine Caplan, due
to his wife being indisposed, Dennis Babbs the Society President
thanked the Captain of Davyhulme Park G C for their generosity
in hosting the event and congratulated him on the superb
presentation of the course.
The President presented the Captain with a cheque and commemorative
plaque in appreciation. The Captain Alan Sadler thanked
the President and commented that he was very proud to have
been asked to host the event.
He presented Club Ties to both the President and the Captain.
Our thanks also go to Sandy Rogerson the Club Administrator
for her organisation of the arrangements and to the catering
manager Warren and his team for providing us with an excellent
meal.
