The Society President's Day was hosted by
Dennis Babbs at Rochdale Golf Club on Wednesday 12th August
– “The Glorious Twelfth” – started
off dull and raining, but came out to brilliant sunshine
for the 1.00pm start.
The course was presented in superb condition, which reflected
the excellent scores recorded.
The Captain Roger Smith, and President Dr Richard Verity,
of Rochdale played as a fourball with Irvin Caplan, the
Society Captain and Alan Preston the Society Vice Captain,
they later joined Dennis Babbs the Society President for
dinner.
The President thanked the Golf Club and The Society for
their support over the many years he had been associated
with them and that he was proud to represent Rochdale G
C as President of the Society. He presented a commemorative
plaque to the Captain of Rochdale G C to record our visit.
The President's Trophy was won by:-
Ian Wilbur and Brian Holt both from Turton Golf Club with
a score of 44 points, (card play off on last 9 holes)

2nd Place also with 44 points

3rd place again with 44 points

The
Society very much appreciates the way in which Rochdale
Golf Club made us feel so welcome throughout the day and
a special thanks go to Phil Kershaw General Manager and
his team and an extra special thanks to the Catering Manager
Cara and her team for the superb meal served up to us.
