Shropshire & Hereford Golf Captains were
welcomed to the Wilmslow Golf Club who very generously hosted
this annual match for us.
On a gloriously hot & sunny day the Match was played
on the magnificent Wilmslow course which was presented in
superb condition – the Match resulted in a win for
Manchester - 8½ to 1½.
The Captain Irvine Caplan having threatened the Team the
previous week with a visit to a “Boot Camp”
if things did not improve was delighted - It transpired
that the Team thought he had said “Boot Hill”
After
a superb dinner the Captain of Wilmslow G C, Charles McKeown
welcomed all the members of both Societies to Wilmslow and
commented that he had never before sat in a room with so
many Captains.
Irvine
Caplan thanked Wilmslow for granting us courtesy of the
course and presented a plaque to their Captain to commemorate
our visit. He then welcomed the Shropshire & Hereford
Golf Captains to which their Captain, Gordon Kelsall captain
responded.
Match
organiser Geoff Sable thanked the Wilmslow Golf Club for
their total support whish made his job in organising the
day so much easier.
We
all enjoyed a wonderful day with our friends from the Shropshire
& Hereford Golf Captains Society and look forward to
meeting with them again next year.
