The Annual Match against the Society of
Derbyshire Golf Captains for The Don McFarlane Trophy was
held at Disley Golf Club.
The
morning was rainy but the afternoon was gloriously hot &
sunny.
The Match was played on the stunning Disley course which
was presented in superb condition and was a very stiff test
of golf but never the less enjoyed by all.
After an excellent dinner of roast Chicken (disguised as
lamb) the Captain of Disley G. C. Steve Kewley welcomed
all the members of both Societies to Disley and said how
proud he was to be welcoming such a gathering of golfers.
Alan
Preston Captain of the Society of Manchester and District
Golf Captains thanked the Disley G. C. for their hospitality
in hosting this annual event and presented a commemorative
plaque to Steve Kewley in appreciation.
Peter
Brabbing SDGC Captain thanked Manchester Captains for their
generous hospitality and also Disley Golf Club for making
them so welcome. He went on to regale us with many of his
memories of his childhood spent in the Farnworth area of
Manchester.
We
all enjoyed a wonderful day with our friends from the Society
of Derbyshire Golf Captains. Thanks to Geoff Sable from
SMDGC for the organisation of the day.
The result was a win for Derbyshire 6 matches to 4 and so
they regained the Don MacFarlane Trophy. We look forward
to meeting with them again next year in Derbyshire when
hopefully, we will regain the Don McFarlane Trophy!
