The Annual introductory meeting was held
at Knutsford Golf Club on Thursday 22nd April 2010.

new Captains along with 13 members of the Executive of The
Society were treated to 9 holes of golf in the delightful
setting of Knutsford Golf Club in Tatton Park on a perfect
day for golf.
The Competition was a Team Stableford – best 2 scores
from 4 o count off ¾ handicap.
After
lunch the Captain of Knutsford Mike McGoun welcomed the
gathering to this annual event which Knutsford were delighted
to host on behalf of The Society.
The
Captain of The Society Irvine Caplan again welcomed the
guests and explained the aims and ethos of The Society.
The point was made that of all the Captains Societies around
the U.K.., The Society Manchester & District Golf Captains
was one of the very few who had the Captain of The R &
A attend their Annual Dinner as principal speaker. The Dinner
will be again held at Mere Golf and Country Club on Tuesday
2nd November 2010 and he recommended that all should make
every effort to attend this prestigious event.
He
also advised that we realised that new Captains were very
busy in their year of office and reminded all present that
it was for this reason that a new Competition had been put
in place for the Captains who had just come out of office.
This was to be held at Styal Golf Club on Wednesday 29th
September 2010 for the Captains of 2009.
The
winning Team scoring 43 points was
Society President Dennis Babbs, Membership Chairman Terry
Jowett, Gary Unsworth from Withington and John Mould from
Bramall Park, who were presented with a sleeve of Society
logo balls.
Second
place with 42 points went to
Alan Preston Vice Captain, Bill Elliott President Elect,
Andrew McLaren from Sale, Clive Davidson from Worsley.
Third place with 41 points went to
Geoff Sable Match Chairman, Juian Bentley from Swinton Park,
Richard Kilby from Davyhulme Park, Ian Hales from Chorlton
cum Hardy.
