The Second Match against the Society of Leeds
Golf Captains was held at the Normanton Golf Club who very
generously hosted the match on behalf of the Leeds Captains.
On
a gloriously hot and sunny day the Match was played on the
magnificent Normanton course which was presented in superb
condition – the Wars of the Roses was occasionally
mentioned but never the less the Match was played in the
true spirit of golf and enjoyed by all.
The result was declared as “an Honourable Draw”
in spite of the fact that Leeds Won 7 - 3.
After
an excellent dinner of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding
followed by Manchester Tart (Pudding – in case any
wives are reading this!) the Captain of The Leeds Golf Captains
Society, Paul Blackburn welcomed all the members of both
Societies to Normanton G.C.
Alan Preston SMDGC Captain thanked the Leeds Golf Captains
to this the second meeting between the two Societies and
hoped that it would long continue.
He thanked Normanton Golf Club for granting us courtesy
of the course and for making us so welcome and presented
a plaque to their past Captain Paul Blackburn to commemorate
our visit.
We all enjoyed a wonderful day with our friends from the
Leeds Golf Captains Society and look forward to meeting
with them again next year at a venue yet to be decided in
Manchester.
