The
56th Annual Dinner of the Society of Manchester and District Golf
Captains on Tuesday 1st November proved to be a splendid occasion
at the impressive new venue of The Point at Lancashire County
Cricket Club, attended by 199 guests and Members.
Society Captain David Besant Roberts led his principal guests
in to the packed room to enjoy an excellent meal of Mrs. Kirkham’s
Lancashire Cheese and Sweet Onion Tartlet, with Pesto Salad and
Walnut Olive Oil, followed by Leg of Roast Lamb with Glazed Root
Vegetables, Truffle Mash and Barley Broth, finishing with Chocolate

the apologies of Alistair Low the Captain of the R and A who was
otherwise engaged on R and A business.
The Captain David Besant Roberts responded on behalf of the Society
and also thanked all of those who had worked so hard behind the
scenes during his most enjoyable year of office.
