Inaugural Match against Bradford Captains Society
The
inaugural match against the Bradford Captains was held at Baildon
Golf Club on Tuesday 24th August 2011.
The
Baildon course was truly spectacular with a wonderful panoramic
view of the Yorkshire moors.
The
weather was sunny but blustery and combined with the course to
make a very stiff test of golf.
After
the Competition the teams sat down to a splendid dinner of roast
beef and Yorkshire pudding followed by apple pie and custard.
The Captain of the Bradford Society welcomed the Manchester Society
and hoped that this match was to be the first of many. He thanked
Baildon G C for hosting the event and the Green staff for presenting
the course in excellent condition.
David
Besant Roberts the Captain of Manchester responded and endorsed
the comments that this should be the start of along and regular
association with the Bradford Society. The usual commemorative
plaque was presented to Baildon Golf Club in appreciation of their
generous hospitality in hosting the event.
The
overall result was a win for Bradford 7 – 3
Thanks
go to Howard Thorpe and Geoff Sable for the organisation of the
Match and we look forward to meeting with our new friends from
Bradford in the not too distant future.
