The Northumberland Captains entertained us over two days at Westerhope Golf Club on the Wednesday & Tynemouth Golf Club on the Thursday

The setting was glorious at both venues but the weather was fine but blowing a gale at Westerhope and the next day at Tynemouth it was a glorious sunny calm day.

Westerhope was a wonderful setting and the course was presented in immaculate condition – a credit to the ground staff.

Play began at 1.30 pm and by 6.30 the Manchester Captains were trailing by 4½ 2½

The Northumberland Captains entertained us to Dinner at night. Again Westerhope Golf Club provided an excellent setting and our thanks go to the management and staff for making this such a memorable occasion.

On Thursday we moved to Tynemouth Golf Club where again we were made most welcome. The course was again presented in immaculate condition and our thanks go to the ground staff.

Unfortunately Manchester were unable to regain any ground, the day’s matches ending even 3½ 3½ giving an overall result 8 - 6.

Congratulations to Northumberland on regaining the “Jack Spedding” Trophy

David Besant Roberts the Manchester Captain presented the Jack Spedding Trophy to the winning Northumberland Captain Bert Garrow.

Congratulations Northumberland. We look forward to meeting again next year at Sale and Davyhulme Park Golf Clubs and regaining the trophy for Manchester.
