Football didn’t come home – whatever
that means – and neither did the trophy when The Manchester
Captains were entertained by South Cheshire Captains at Alsager
field that was increased to 22 per team was reduced in Manchester’s
case by absences and so they began with some disadvantages.
Alsager GC received fulsome praise for the condition of the course
and the hospitality and while Manchester Captain Tony Gregory
regretted the 7½ to 2½ defeat, he welcomed the reduced
cost on metal polish this year!
Special thanks should be recorded for South Cheshire organiser
John Grint and the caterers for re-scheduling in order to accommodate
the football, and also to the members of Alsager Golf Club in
welcoming the players into the lounge to watch on the big screen.
