The Society Captain's Day was hosted by Colin Shadbolt at Bramall Park Golf Club on Friday 20th June.

The weather was glorious and the course was presented in an immaculate condition.

The day was also even more notable as it was Colin’s *? birthday.


A field of 120 thoroughly enjoyed the day, including particularly the refreshments and Colin’s Birthday cake provided by Colin’s Wife at the halfway house.

The Captain Gerry Hodson, and Vice Captain Tim Greenwood, of Bramall Park played as a fourball with Jack Bishop, the Society President and Irvine Caplan, the Society Vice Captain, they later joined Colin and Don Robertson the Bramall Park President for dinner.

The Captain's Prize was won by Ged Gaffey and Ian Brooks from Bolton Old Links Golf Club with a fabulous score of 43 points, just beating Dave Strachen and Mark Rowden from Mellor and Townscliffe on a back nine card playoff. Third place went to Ian Wilbur and Brian Holt from Turton Golf Club with 41 points, again on a card play off with Colin Mitchell and Neil Lancashire from Stand Golf Club.
