The Society President's Day was hosted by Jack Bishop at Sale Golf Club on Wednesday 1st October.

The weather was atrocious but the ground staff worked tirelessly to make the course playable – all the pins were moved to the highest points on the greens and it was agreed that the Competition would continue so long as the greens were puttable.

74 of the 80 starters were able to complete their rounds – congratulations to the players and a special thanks to the thanks to all the staff Sale Golf Club – a tremendous effort.

In spite of the weather a field of 80 made every effort to enjoy the day.

The Captain John Stubbs, and President John Lowis, of Sale played as a fourball with Colin Shadbolt, the Society Captain and Bill Elliott, one of the Society Vice Presidents, they later joined Jack Bishop the Society President for dinner. 

The President's Trophy was won by:-

Ian Brooks and Kevin Shea from Bolton Old Links Golf Club with a score of 38 points, (card play off on last 3 holes)

In 2nd Place also with 38 points (card play off on last 3 holes)
Dennis Babbs and Graham Collins - both from Rochdale G C

In 3rd place again with 38 points (card play off on last 3 holes)
Charlie Howie - Sale G C and Ned Spencer Styal G C

4th place 37 (another card play off!) Dick Browne & David Parsons both from Sale G C

Thanks to the generosity of Geoff Garnett and Adam Goodman of Villeneuve Sur Lot Golf & Country Club who donotated a 3 night Golf holiday for 2 people in a Fairway facing appartment, the President made a randon draw from the days scorecards and the holiday was won by Tony Taylor and Bryan Elson of Saddleworth Golf Club.
